How does it work?
Sunless tanning products work by creating a response with the top layers of skin. Dihydroxyacetone or DHA sugars react naturally with the protein in skin to create that tan, golden color tanners are seeking. MagicTan uses a DHA self-tanner and a bronzer blend to give you the streak-free golden tan you seek - no matter what your skin type. We have also added aloe and moisturizers to keep your skin healthy so you can look good and feel great!

How is the tanning solution applied to the skin?
The MagicTan is a full-body, DHA tanning process that utilizes misting technology. This is a revolutionary process that allows the booth to apply a uniform amount of tanning solution to all parts of the body. When the special MagicTan solution passes through the boothís nozzles, the particles of solution are polarized, allowing it to cover all surfaces of the skin evenly.

Does it turn the skin orange?
No! In the past, self-tanners gave many individuals an unnatural orange glow and caused streaking. Most of these undesirable results were caused by improper or ineffective application techniques. Applying creams and lotions by hand usually results in excessive amounts being absorbed in the skin. Excessive amounts applied in a single application can give an orange glow to the skin. Unnatural dark spots may also appear in dry or thick skinned areas such as elbows, knees, and knuckles because these areas have a tendency to absorb more of the creams. Hand held spray-on applicators tend to run and cause streaking. The misting technology used to apply the MagicTan tanning solution assures that all areas of the body get a uniform coating of the solution in the exact quantity required to produce a golden brown tan.

What about people with fair skin that have never been able to tan?
The MagicTan tanning booth was designed specifically for individuals who can't or don't want to tan conventionally.  Back To Top

Do people with hair on their legs/arms, develop an uneven tan where hair is present?
No. People with hair on their bodies will see tiny droplets of mist on their hairs at the end of the tanning process. These droplets are removed by toweling off lightly and the same even, golden brown tan is achieved.  Back To Top

What if I have a bald spot?
If I wear a shower cap my bald spot will be white and my face brown?
It isn't necessary to wear a shower cap for the misting process (it doesn't affect the color of your hair in any way - even if you have grey hair) you can go into the booth without a cap and even your bald spot will get that great tan!  Back To Top

What should people wear in the tanning booth?
Many people do not wear anything. The room is completely private, so tanning in the nude is perfectly acceptable. However, if a bathing suit, underwear, or anything else is worn, it may be stained. The bronzer used for initial color is water-soluble and should wash out of most clothing, but the DHA applications may cause permanent stains on any clothing worn inside the booth.  Back To Top

Do I get better results if I shave my legs before I use the MagicTan booth?
Exfoliation prior to using MagicTan is key to acquiring a tan which will provide the most natural color and fade. Your skin on the surface when looked at under a microscope looks like a series of peaks and valleys, as a result of dehydration and flattening of the keratinic cells that migrate to the surface of the skin.

If you can envision looking at a landscape of peaks and valleys (Aka your skin) covered in self-tanner and then think about removing the peaks like would happened during normal skin exfoliation or shaving, what you will find is the greater the difference between the peaks and valleys the greater the likely hood of the tan fading unevenly.

Thus shaving, whether on the legs of women or the face of men, which is a major form of exfoliation is best done prior to the tanning session, this in combination with a good sound skin care regimen, will ensure your tan will last longer and fade more evenly.

Obviously since a MagicTan, lasts approximately a week, you will need to shave sometime in between. Proper preparation of the skin prior to tanning as well as after the session will help optimize the tan results.  Back To Top

What happens if the mist gets into the userís eyes?
We suggest keeping the eyes closed during the misting process. Due to the moisturizing components in the mist, eyes may feel itchy or scratchy, but there is nothing in the mist that is harmful to eyes.  Back To Top

How many times does a person need to use MagicTan to achieve the color they want?
A person will be tanned after one session, but it may take an additional session or two to achieve their desired color. Once they reach the desired color they should be able to maintain it by tanning every week.  Back To Top

Does MagicTan give an even tan, or will some parts of the body be darker?
The  MagicTan will be even if proper preparation guidelines have been followed.

Will it make the user feel sticky like some lotions do?
No. Once the user leaves the MagicTan tanning booth and dries off, their skin will feel soft and pliable because of the moisturizing components. It will not feel sticky.  Back To Top

Does the user need to cover their hair during use?
No. Many consumers wear disposable shower caps, which are provided by the salon, to keep the solution from getting in their hair. Other consumers tan without covering their hair. The solution will not penetrate the hair follicles.  Back To Top

Is the user wet when getting out of the booth?
Yes, however plush towels are available to gently pat the excess mist from the skin.  Back To Top

Does the mist leave an unpleasant odor on the user?
Some consumers have commented that they noticed a 'starchy' smell on their skin after tanning, but it is usually not noticeable to others around them.  Back To Top

Will the user get sick if they breathe during the session?
We recommend that users hold their breath during the actual misting process, which lasts about 45 seconds, there are however 3 short pauses. We make this recommendation because most individuals would prefer not to breathe in the mist even though there is nothing in it that would cause any harm if you did breathe it in. If there is a history of asthma or other respiratory illnesses we do not recommend tanning in the MagicTan tanning booth until consulting with a doctor.  Back To Top

How long after the tanning session can the user put their clothes back on?
Once the user has towel dried there is little chance of the bronzer or DHA getting on their clothes. If they pursue any strenuous physical activity after the MagicTan session, perspiration may cause some of the bronzer to transfer to their clothing. The bronzer is water-soluble, but may stain certain fabrics, such as wool, nylon and silk.  Back To Top

Does this system cause freckles in people who usually freckle when tanning?
No. There is nothing in the MagicTan solution that will cause more freckles to break out. In fact, in most cases, freckles and blemishes will become less pronounced because the lighter skin areas will darken and reduce the color differentiation between the blemishes and the rest of the skin.  Back To Top

Will the user get a better tan if they tan twice in the same day?
Yes, tanning twice in the same day will create a darker tan, but we do not recommend back to back sessions. Tanning back to back does not give the DHA a chance to set between tans. Waiting 12 to 24 hours between tans will give better results. Due to the many variable, Body & Sol does not offer dual daily sessions.  Back To Top

How soon after the tanning session can the user shower?
We recommend that the user wait a minimum of 6 hours after tanning to give the DHA enough time to fully set, the longer the better. In the event that you shower earlier, you may diminish the intensity of the tan. When you do shower the initial tan created by the water-soluble bronzer will wash off, but the DHA will remain and create a long term tan.  Back To Top

Can MagicTan users also use the sun and UV-tanning beds?
Yes. There is nothing in the MagicTan tanning solution that would prevent users from tanning in tanning beds or the sun. In fact, a number of customers have found that tanning with UV rays and the MagicTan tanning solution actually gives them a better overall tan. Remember, however, that the MagicTan tanning process does not give protection from UV rays.  Back To Top

My palms got stains on them
Some people's palms take on more solution than the others. For best results, apply a thin layer of barrier cream to the palms. A simple way of getting them white is to spread some lemon juice on them, or if all else fails a little bleach on a cotton wool pad.  Back To Top

My tan looks different than the last time
The skins condition varies with season, time of the month, foods you eat, weather etc.
It is a living thing, and reacts to a lot of factor.
